Parco Gallorose has choosen Treedom.
WHAT IS TREEDOM?
Treedom is the first site that allows people to plant trees remotely and follow online the story of the project they will help realize.
Since its founding in 2010 in Florence, more than 3,000,000 trees have been planted in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Italy. All trees are planted directly by local farmers and help produce environmental, social and economic benefits. Thanks to this business model, Treedom has been a member since 2014 of the Certified B Corporations, the network of companies that stand out for high environmental and social performance.
Treedom directly funds agroforestry projects, spread across the land. The philosophy is to build sustainable ecosystems and enable thousands of farmers to meet the initial costs of planting new trees, ensuring food sovereignty and income opportunities over time.
Environmental benefits
The implementation of agroforestry systems makes it possible to make timely choices in relation to the specific characteristics and needs of each project area. The tree species planted are native or in respect of the biodiversity of different areas.
Agroforestry practice also integrates tree planting into an agricultural system, promoting the virtuous interaction between different species and a sustainable use of resources and land.
Social benefits
Treedom finances projects at rural communities in various countries around the world and also implements projects with strong social value in Italy. The first step is the training and financing of the communities involved in the projects, achieving extraordinary results in terms of their empowerment. The trees and their fruits are owned by the farmers, allowing them to diversify and supplement their income and in some cases to start micro-entrepreneurship initiatives. Funding the planting of new trees with Treedom, serves to support their care in their early years, when they are not yet productive in terms of fruit.
